Clovis, California, is a little far for a lot of Michigan athletes, but the meet is the qualifier for the World Junior Championships in Poland. A quick scan of the entries declared shows that Connor Bandel is declared in the SP/DT. Donavan Brazier is declared in the 800, but that might change soon as he is reportedly running the Olympic Trials now and turning pro. Grant Fisher has scratched. Competing in the World Juniors was originally part of his long-term plan, but now he may be able to run in the Trials 5000. www.usatf.org/Events---Calendar/2016/USATF-Junior-Outdoor-Track---Field-Championships.aspx

Spelled Donovan (with an "o"). So many people/websites spell his name incorrectly. Being from Michigan, let this new (and hopefully great future source for Track and Field news/commentary) spell his name correctly. All of Michigan wishes Donovan well with his future. He is source of Michigan pride, a gift to US T&F fans, and is the future of US 800 m running.
Grant is trying to make the 1500 m US Olympic Trials standard this Thursday night out in Portland. Looks like he may be in for the 5km. His time of 13:30 is outside of the 13:28 standard but based on the number of athletes who have made the standard, he stands a good chance of making it in.

According to his facebook, twitter and athletic.net his name is spelled Donavan. Yes good luck to him and any Michiganders in USATF Juniors or the Olympic Trials!

Connor Bandel (Oxford 2016) wins the U.S.A. Junior Championships with a 3rd round 61,75m (202' 7") with the 1,75kg discus. He's off to Poland in three weeks.
